Reading Activities

In a world that is slowly but surely turning away from books & getting
glued to monitors or television screens, the importance of developing a
passion for reading cannot be overlooked. Reading is a habit & ought to be
established when the kid is comparatively young. What are you able to do to foster
this habit?

Enroll your kid for reading classes:
There's lots of well structured after school reading classes that aim to
draw the kids to books. They help children with diction, idioms &
phrases. For young kids, these classes can be fun with animated
characters & pics. Illustrated picture books, rhymes, daft songs
& pretend tales all attract the young kid. Use creativity to capture
the kid's vivid imagination.

Pique your kid's interest:
If your kid has a favourite character, pick a series of books that
features this character. For my son, it was Spiderman. Thanks to friendly
neighborhood spidey, my son latched on to comics early in his
childhood.

Build a home-library:
A skill like reading cannot be learnt in isolation. Do not leave all the
hard work to the after school program. Pick up books that you think your
kid will like. The Web is as well as a rich resource of reading games
that will attract tiny kids to the fine art of reading.
